Review: Brass Dragon Codex, by R.D. Henham

Never start a conversation with a brass dragon--it might never end! In another volume of the companion series to A Practical Guide to Dragons, orphaned baby brass dragon Kyani ventures out into the desert to find something to eat, and finds a gnome named Hector instead. Hector is not so sure he wants a chatty, hungry brass dragon following his every move. But several groups ready to go to blows over the marvelous invention Hector guards with his life, he may need the help that only a fun-loving brass dragon can provide.

In my wanderings through StoryLand, it's far too seldom that I find a book I want to absolutely rave about.

This is one of the few! I loved it and I would whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone!

From the first paragraph, Brass Dragon Codex starts off on an amusing note, and then it just keeps going. The characters are loveable - complete with all their foibles and annoyances. From a kidnapper dragon who likes to talk, and talk, and talk some more to a gnome who doesn't appreciate his true love, they're all real - and the kind you wouldn't mind bumping into in a walk around the neighborhood. (well, except maybe the dragon, that could be a little awkward...)
This is an entertaining adventure - right for anyone of any age that likes that sort of thing. It is part of a series, but stands alone as a story all it's own. Honestly and truly - a really great book!

Hey, I didn't kidnap Hector. I rescued him from those terrible centipedes. I admit I did keep him in my lair a bit longer than he wanted but . . . well I needed someone to talk to, didn't I?
