Inkheart: Mortimer “Mo” Folchart (Brendan Fraser) and his 12-year-old daughter, Meggie (Eliza Hope Bennett), share a passion for books. What they also share is an extraordinary gift for bringing characters from books to life when they read aloud. But there is a danger: when a character is brought to life from a book, a real person disappears into its pages.

Normally, I would say that Paul Bettany, shirtless and playing with fire, is a good reason to watch just about any movie - and, well, that's pretty much enough reason for me. But honestly, there's more than that to this one - really, I promise...

I just can't rave enough about how much I loved this movie - it's earned a place on our movie shelf, just as soon as it's released. The last time I walked out of a movie feeling this breathless and infatuated with a film was "Pirates", and I think the last time before that was "LadyHawke" - which I did see in the theater (showing my age here!)

There's an added attraction for the writer side of myself. Any author who's ever loved their own characters will have so much more of a vested interest in this movie than the normal movie-goer. The author in "Inkheart" is absolutely endearing, and oh so understandable when you've been there and can just imagine what you'd do in his shoes!

High praises for this movie! Can't wait to read the books!

No freaking kidding? I wasn't aware that they'd made a movie?

    I'm defininately going.

Want to know what's weird? As much as I loved Inkheart, I just couldn't get it to Inkspell. It's one of a very few books I never finished.

  2. Oh,don't tell me that! That's okay, I'll read it anyway. I have to now, I won't be happy until I've devoured the whole set

Okay, you just sold me. I'm already a sucker for books turned films (its the selfish writer side of me) so this one was on my radar. I haven't read Inkheart yet, but I've been wanting to. So maybe movie first, books second. LOL Thanks for the review. Love your site, btw.

  5. Holy cow, I will definitely see this movie! I agree about Paul Bettany, and about Pirates, and about LadyHawke. Totally.
